The Harvey Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 as a memorial to the Harvey’s in recognition of the importance they placed on higher education and their commitment to Community Presbyterian Church. Even before the organization of our church, Winnie and Frank were members of Community Sunday School which met in the old town hall of Atlantic Beach. Their Christian dedication was only equaled by their shared opinion of the importance of higher education, a cherished value they instilled in their children.

The Community Presbyterian Church College Book Fund was previously established by the Drummond family and used to reimburse college book expenses. This fund was depleted in 2010 and the Harvey Scholarship Fund assumed responsibility for providing these precious funds. The Harvey Scholarship Committee will decide each year on the amount spent for book grants; however, the maximum amount is $250 per student per year for four consecutive years.

This program is for members of Community Presbyterian Church who are enrolled in an accredited, undergraduate institution of higher education. Undergraduate college students of any age may apply for reimbursement for four consecutive years while working on their first degree. Expenses for textbooks required for college coursework may be reimbursed by this fund, up to the maximum allowed by the Harvey Scholarship Committee. Reimbursable expenses include purchasing hard copy/electronic textbooks, and textbook rental.

In all cases, original paid receipts from the current school year must be submitted with the application form. Make sure receipts are itemized and highlight expenses for textbooks only on each receipt (equipment and supplies are not reimbursable.) Applications must be submitted by March 1 for the current school year’s textbook expenses (summer, fall, and spring terms). Late applications will not be accepted. Checks will be made payable to the applicant and mailed. Monetary awards typically be disbursed in April.
