Meet Thomas Lyons, our Music Director. Thomas is a a native of New Jersey and has been involved with music for as long as he can remember. With a degree in Voice from High Point University, NC, and a Master’s degree in Church Music from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, OH, Thomas is excited to lead the Music Ministry at Community Presbyterian Church. Thomas believes that music has the power to transform us in our everyday lives and his goal is to provide meaningful music that inspires everyone’s faith lives. In doing so, the most important task is choosing music that appropriately fits the theme of worship. When this is achieved, Thomas knows congregants are well equipped in their weekly lives to share music to others, and share the good news of our God.

The Music Program

The Music Program is a vital part of our church and everyone is welcome to be part of the music ministry. Trained vocalists, youth instrumentalists, bell ringers, Ukulele players, and other talented musical acts are welcome to reach out at any time. There is always a way to find a place for you!

  • Music for our Traditional Service offers musicians a way to be a part of the Chancel Choir, Bell Choir, or to offer up vocal or instrumental solos during worship.
  • Choir Rehearsal is Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.
  • Bell Choir rehearsal is on Wednesday night from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
  • Music for the Contemporary Service is provided by our Praise Band. This ensemble is open to students and adults who enjoy contemporary Christian music. Bring your instrument/voice and let’s have a great time! Currently the band rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 8:00 a.m.
