COLD NIGHT SHELTER
One of the many advantages of living at the beaches is there are not very many cold nights. But, there are some most winters. These are times that make being homeless more difficult, even dangerous. Mission House works daily to aid homeless people, they coordinate the Cold Night Shelter with local churches to address these residents needs on cold nights.
Family Promise is a nonprofit, inter-faith organization that works to help low-income, homeless families achieve lasting independence. Family Promise realizes
that poverty is a complex problem and confronts it with a holistic, integrated approach. Family promise partners with local churches to give these families a safe place to stay while they work to get their lives back on track.
Another way we help our community is by volunteering with Beaches Habitat for Humanity. This affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the Jacksonville Beaches area. CPC sends volunteers the second Saturday of every month to work on Habitat projects focused on building or rehabilitating housing side-by-side with other community volunteers and families earning Habitat homes.
Two Cents a Meal is a special offering taken up during worship on the second Sunday of each month. CPC partners with the Presbytery of St. Augustine to collect and distribute this offering to our brothers & sisters in need. The goal of the Two Cents a Meal program is to end hunger world-wide.
Living Waters for the World (LWW) is
a global mission whose primary focus is
getting clean, usable water to people in need. The method for doing this is through teaching people to empower local community members to build and operate systems that provide clean water and health education in
their communities. CPC partners with LWW to in El Salvador every year.
