Habitat for Humanity
Another way we help our community is by volunteering with the Beaches Habitat organization. This affiliate of Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the Jacksonville Beaches area and works to help local residents own affordable housing. These residents are getting a ‘hand up – not a hand out’ as they pay for their house with 200 to 300 hours of ‘sweat equity’, a small down payment, and a no-interest mortgage loan, into the Revolving Fund for Humanity. But, many more volunteers are needed to finish each home.
CPC volunteers work the second Saturday of every month. In 2014, we gave over 200 hours of service. They roll out of bed on Saturday morning a little before 8:00 AM, throw on some old clothes, and bring a smiling face out to help at a designated work site for about 4 hours.
Anyone 16 years of age and older is welcome and volunteer opportunities are available for all skill levels. Small groups are also encouraged to volunteer together as both a fellowship opportunity and a chance to further CPC’s mission efforts. Please contact Eric Wild via the below form to address any questions and for specific meeting times and locations. See our CPC Calendar for upcoming events.
